Enterprise (OV-101)

Artifact
Date: 2017 | Photo by: Chris Griffith

The Enterprise is shown here in the hanger built especially for it at the Stephen Udvar-Hazy Center at Dulles Airport near Washington D.C. Originally named Constitution, the name was changed due to pressure from the Ford administration on NASA in response to calls from Star Trek fans. Too bad, they blew it! They should have requested the next orbiter (OV-102 Columbia) be named after the fabled starship.
