Independence

Initially, this full-sized model, Explorer, was was displayed at Kennedy Space Complex Visitor Center. When they acquired Atlantis upon its retirement, this model was transferred to Space Center Houston an placed atop Shuttle Carrier Aircraft 905. They also renamed it as Independence. Visitors can access to highly detailed flight deck and the mid decks. In the payload bay is the pallet used on the maiden flight of Endeavour to rescue the Intelsat 6 satellite.
